Short answer

The developer says Last Pirates: Die Together can already be played on Steam Deck, but the game is not officially Steam Deck Verified. During our August 13 check, Steam displayed Deck compatibility as Unknown.

The store also lists full controller support, including Xbox and PlayStation controllers. None of those labels provide a verified frame rate, graphics preset, battery estimate, or guarantee that every screen is comfortable on the Deck.

“Playable” and “Verified” are not the same claim

Two current official signals need to be read together:

  • The developer FAQ says: you can already play on Steam Deck, but it is not officially Verified yet.
  • The Steam store's Deck section shows compatibility as Unknown.

These statements can both be true. The developer can test and run its own game on the hardware before Valve publishes a compatibility result. “Unknown” means Steam is not currently presenting a completed compatibility category on the store page; it does not automatically mean the game cannot launch.

For purchasing decisions, describe the current state as developer-reported playable, not Valve Verified. Do not shorten it to “Verified,” and do not turn “Unknown” into “Unsupported.”

What controller support is listed?

Steam lists:

  • Full Controller Support;
  • Xbox controller support;
  • PlayStation controller support.

That is encouraging for a handheld, but controller support is only one part of Deck compatibility. Valve's compatibility review can also consider text readability, launcher or keyboard friction, default graphics settings, and system-level behavior.

The game's long elastic arms and physics interactions make the actual layout important. We will publish a button map only after the Early Access controls can be read directly. A layout borrowed from the demo or another controller type may be wrong on launch day.

What performance can you expect?

There is not enough current evidence to promise a frame-rate target or recommended preset. The Early Access build had not unlocked during this review, and the developer FAQ does not publish a Deck benchmark.

The PC store page lists a minimum Windows specification with an Intel Core i5 or equivalent, 8 GB RAM, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 or equivalent, and 5 GB of storage. Those PC minimums are useful for desktop buyers, but they should not be converted into a Deck performance claim. SteamOS, Proton behavior, shader compilation, resolution, and the game's own optimization all affect the handheld result.

Until the launch build can be tested, we will not recommend:

  • a Proton version;
  • a 30, 40, or 60 FPS cap;
  • a TDP limit;
  • a graphics preset;
  • a resolution or upscaling mode;
  • an expected battery life.

What should a Steam Deck owner check at launch?

Use a short evidence-first checklist:

  1. Open the official Steam store and read the Deck compatibility panel again. Valve may update the Unknown status.
  2. Check the game's latest Steam news and developer FAQ for a launch-specific Deck note.
  3. Confirm that the live build exposes readable controller prompts and all required actions without a mouse.
  4. Look for current gameplay captured on Steam Deck, with the game version and settings visible.
  5. Keep playtime and Steam's refund conditions in mind while evaluating a new Early Access build.

We will update this page after launch only when direct footage or testing can support settings and performance details. A comment that the game “runs fine” without a version, scene, frame-rate view, or settings screen is not enough for a configuration guide.

Does Steam Deck change multiplayer support?

The official player limit remains solo or online co-op for up to four. The sources used here do not announce a separate Deck matchmaking pool or cross-play feature. If you plan to join friends, the developer's only current game-specific connection advice is to select the same region; see our voice chat and connection check.

For launch timing, use the release date and current status page. The developer says August 18, while the regional Steam page we checked displayed August 19.
